An equally interesting choice of a partner is someone who is the "opposite" of one of the parents. This tendency would be reflected in the person's antithetical scheme of appereption. I have also seen clients who first marry someone like one of their parents, divorce this first spouse, then marry someone who appears to exhibit the opposite qualities.
Another, less frequent phenomenon, is when a client marries someone who is like one of their siblings: brother/sister, brother/brother, and sister/sister combinations. I don't recall Adler discussing these dynamics generally in his writings, although he may have given a few examples in his case histories.
