Some people feel the constant need to gain attention, which is what is normally found at the heart of the problem when it comes to Drama Queen style people.

For whatever reason they lack self confidence which in turn requires them to seek constant approval from other people, even when this goes badly for them it does not stop them from continuing to seek it in the future.

You can train people out of it but its a lot of work.
