Yes, in modern technique of counselors they combined CBT with CRT because they know that new behaviors can be learned and replace the defective behaviors and reactions which I believe also as an effective technique of conquering social phobias. However, all of this technique is of no use if you within yourself don't want to believe that you could overcome or fight from this.
