![]() Hello,
I've been accepted to a 5-year Neuropsych program where I will be going for an MS/PhD. However, my parents don't like my choice as they feel that a PhD is not "prestigous" enough. They feel as though I should go to medical school and become a Psychiatrist -- specifically, an MD. What's more, they feel that no one can make as much money as an MD. So my question is this: how is Neuropsychology viewed as a profession and is there money to be made? Thanks... AB |

![]() AB,
"Good" career choice would have to be up to you. My question to you is where does your interest lie? It would be my thought that the majority of work in the area of Neuropsychology would be in a university setting or a research setting. There is a lot happening in the area. If you prefer that to working directly with clients, then run with it! It's all about matching your interests and desires. I couldn't say about the money aspect as it is not my particular interest area, but my position is that prestige and money do not bring contentment with a career choice. Find what excites you and makes you love getting up in the morning. That's where it's all at. |
